The new-baby feelings
A new baby is exciting, and it can also be hard. Older kids may feel left out, act younger for a while, or get upset about sharing mom and dad. All of that is normal. What helps is making them feel important in their new role, not replaced.
How the story works
Choose A new baby in the family as the villain. In the story, the tricky feelings are what the hero has to face, and they learn that being a big brother or big sister is its own kind of superpower. You can even add the baby as their tiny sidekick, and a grown-up cameo for mom, dad or grandparents is free.
Make it a "big kid" gift
- Give it before or right when the baby arrives so the older child gets something special that's all theirs.
- Read it to the baby together. Big kids love being the one who "reads" their book to the baby.
- Write a dedication in your own words. It's a keepsake they'll still have when they're grown.
Want the baby in the book too?
The Hero Team Book puts 2 to 4 kids in one story, and babies are welcome as the littlest hero. Or get each of them their own book with Hero Squad savings (2 books save 15%, 3 or more save 20%).
