📖The book
How personal is it, really?
Very. We use their name, age, look, pet or sidekick, favorite things, and the thing they're working on being brave about to write and illustrate a story that only works for them. No two books are the same.
How does it look like my child?
We use your photos as a reference to create an illustrated character in a 3D animated-movie style. It's a cartoon version of your kid, not a photo pasted in. See a full sample →
What's inside the book?
24 pages starring your kid: their hero origin story, a custom villain based on the thing they're brave about, their sidekick, a personal dedication, and an Official Hero File at the end.
What ages is it for?
Kids about 2 to 10. We adjust the story to their age, so a 3-year-old and an 8-year-old get different reading levels. It's read-aloud friendly for younger siblings too.
Can you use Spider-Man, Paw Patrol or other characters?
No. Every hero we make is an original, which means your kid's hero belongs only to them.
PDF or hardcover: which should I pick?
The PDF ($29) is great for reading on a tablet or printing at home. The Hardcover + PDF ($69) is a premium printed keepsake, and you get the PDF too. Most gift-givers choose the hardcover.
📸Ordering & photos
How does ordering work?
Fill in the short form on the product page (or use the Hero Builder and we'll fill it in for you), then check out. After that, reply to your order confirmation email with 1 to 3 photos.
What photos do you need?
One to three clear photos of your child's face in good light, looking toward the camera. Add their pet or sidekick if you'd like them in the book too.
Can I order one for a grandchild, niece or nephew?
Absolutely, it makes a great gift. Fill in the details for the child it's for and send their photos. You can have the hardcover shipped straight to them.
Can I make books for siblings?
Yes, two ways. Give each kid their own book with Hero Squad pricing: 2 books save 15% and 3 or more save 20%, taken off automatically at checkout. Or put 2 to 4 kids together in one Hero Team Book ($39 PDF, $89 hardcover).
We have more than 4 kids. Can you do that?
Yes. Message us and we'll build a custom team book, or combine a Hero Team Book with separate books using Hero Squad pricing.
Can I give it as a gift if I don't know all the details?
Yes. A Hero Book Gift Card is emailed instantly, and the parents fill in the details and send photos when they redeem it. Gift cards never expire.
Can babies or grown-ups be in the book?
Yes. In a Hero Team Book, babies can be the littlest hero, and you can add Mom, Dad, Grandma or anyone special as a free cameo.
✏️Your proof
When do I see it?
Your full proof arrives by email within 48 hours of receiving your photos.
What if I want something changed?
Reply to your proof email with what to change and we'll fix it free. Nothing is printed until you say "Approved."
What if I don't love it?
Tell us what's off and we'll fix it. If we can't get it right, you get a full refund before anything prints.
🚚Shipping & Christmas
How long does the hardcover take?
About 3 to 5 business days to print, plus shipping. Most hardcovers arrive 7 to 12 business days after you approve the proof. Allow extra time in December.
When do I need to order for Christmas?
Order hardcovers by December 8. PDFs can be ordered through December 23.
When do I get the PDF?
Your PDF is emailed after you approve your proof.
🔒Privacy & AI
What happens to my photos?
We use them only to make your book and delete them 30 days after delivery. We never share them, and we never use your child's photo or book in ads without your written permission.
Is AI involved?
Yes. AI helps draw the illustrations, and a real person writes and checks every book before you see it.
