Why storms feel so scary
Loud cracks of thunder, flashing light and wind can be a lot for small kids, especially at night. Many kids grow out of it, and a little practice feeling brave helps along the way.
How the story works
Choose Thunderstorms as the villain. Pair it with the Lightning superpower and something fun happens: the thing that scared them becomes their power. Our sample hero, Thunder Jay, is a good example of what this looks like.
Storm-night ideas
- Count with them between the flash and the boom. Counting turns fear into a game.
- Make a "storm fort" with blankets and read their hero book inside with a flashlight.
- Use their hero name. "Thunder Jay isn't scared of a little noise."
